Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted final approval for its approval for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Strattera (atomoxetine), a new non-stimulant antidepressant with significant market presence in the U. market. This approval is supported by data from a Phase 3 clinical trial conducted in patients with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and in adults with comorbid depression.
Strattera was the first FDA-approved non-stimulant medicine for ADHD and comorbid depression in the U. and was approved for use by many other countries worldwide. The first FDA-approved ADHD medication, Strattera, has also received final approval in Europe and the United States, with the first-ever FDA approval of the drug for ADHD.
This approval is a significant milestone for Strattera, and it will provide the drug with a new and more potent mechanism of action that will benefit many patients. The drug is already being developed and is expected to be FDA-approved for the treatment of ADHD in the U.

The safety of atomoxetine (Strattera) is uncertain but is based on a large open label, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of atomoxetine in children and adults with ADHD. Children and adults with ADHD will receive a prescription for atomoxetine (Strattera) starting in the second week of their school year. atomoxetine is approved for ADHD in the U. and Canada, where it is not recommended to be used by children.
